About Me

So where did my blog name come from?

My interest in magic stems from an early age, as I attempted to fund my Beano addiction through putting on performances for every poor sod who was unfortunate enough to visit the house when I was around. Armed with a box of tricks (and often a box painted black with white moons and stars), I delighted in ‘fooling’ my parents and their friends with my under-rehearsed and often unsuccessful attempts at magic and conjuring.

Thankfully those days are now far behind me, and I have now settled on the perhaps just as risky dream of becoming a doctor, much to the apprehension of my parents, who (both being doctors themselves) would rather I didn’t afflict upon myself the same long hours and sleepless nights of their junior doctor years.

Now in my 5th year at university, I have been reminded that medicine – in fact, science in general – is amazing. I hope that you’ll follow me in my little journey of trials, systematic reviews, quacks, and interesting factoids.

Excellent blog post, its so depressing when people let a good story get in the way of proper research and the truth. You might enjoy some of the talks we have coming up since you are based in Birmingham, it would be good to see you. Give us a shout on Twitter if you’re interested @Brum_Skeptics.
